Hartford Deputy Chief Dies After Cancer Battle The Hartford Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Deputy Chief Jason Lee has died after a battle with cancer, his department said Sunday, Sept. 27. Lee graduated with Hartford Police Academy Class 2005-1 and went on to serve in Patrol, the Safe City Initiative alongside Connecticut State Police, the Southwest Conditions Unit, and the Crime Scene Division. CT Man Charged After Shooting Bear That Killed His Chickens A Connecticut homeowner has been charged after he said he shot and killed a black bear that broke into an enclosure and killed some of his chickens, state environmental police said.  Michael Gero, 39, called the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on Friday night, Sept. 25, to report the shooting. Investigators said he saw the bear eating a chicken in his yard before he fired.
