If you're looking for a "perfectly grungy" bar experience, New Haven has the spot for you.
It's called Cafe Nine, and it has everything. "Cool graffiti," "a divey atmosphere, but not too divey," "a tiny bathroom," "live music from cool up-and-coming independent bands," and "chairs!"
Those were taken from nearly 70 Yelp reviews for the 250 State St. bar, which was recently named Connecticut's best dive bar by the Takeout.
